June Gader Obituary
Gader, June Rose
June Rose Gader, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away April 10, 2009. A Los Angeles native, she moved to Kennesaw, Georgia from the Hollywood hills, with her husband, Bertram Gader, now deceased, in the summer of 1995. They came following their friends, after the horrendous L.A. earthquake of 1994. For many years they owned a second home in France's Dordogne valley.
June was a scholar of life and its many diversities, embracing art, music, science, literature, and charities for the less fortunate. A National Honor Society high school graduate and Magna Cum Laude graduate from UCLA, June possessed a gift for the spoken and written word.
As an accomplished writer, she enjoyed a successful career in advertising with some of L.A.'s most prominent agencies including, Gader and Wetmore, BBDO, Honig-Cooper & Harrington, Erwin and Wasey, and Young and Rubicam. She counted among her career high points a coveted Golden Lion Award at Cannes. She managed the creative direction of BMW, Hunt-Wesson Food, McCulloch Chain Saw, Gallo Wines, Kal Kan and Friskies Pet Foods, Western Airlines, Carnation, Dodge, and other major advertisers, winning many awards for her print ads and broadcast spots. Her free lance writing included articles in Architectural Digest, Bon Appetit, Veranda and Atlanta Magazine, and she also wrote "L.A. Live", a book on Los Angeles' diversified culture.
June is survived by Bert's sister and husband, Zelda and Harold Gold and their two sons and wives, David Gold and Wendy Herzog and daughters Mara, Lena and Miranda and Edward Gold and Jae Gold, as well as, Bert's daughter and her child Rachael Gader Shafran and Ariel Shafran.
Widely traveled both internationally and in the true spirit of just hitting the blue highway, June wrote her own epitaph on one of her many trips:
