Kenny Davis Obituary

September 19, 1940 - September 5, 2016 Kenny "Bob" Davis, comedian, musician, actor, died after two days on the road, four standing ovations and only one trip to Urgent Care. These are the kind of stats Kenny considered a huge win. He made it home, and it was there he died with his boots (and his Rolex) on. After the Navy, he performed for SRO loyal fans at Jason's, Beef and Barrel, The Palomino Club, The Railhead (Dallas), then headlined lounges doing the funny at the Improv in Vegas, Chinook Winds and comedy theatres all over America. A constant advocate for special-needs kids, AA and Veterans, Kenny joyfully spent the bulk of his time being of service. Labor Day 2016. Kenny Davis got the light. The gig was done. Or was it? Kenny's encore: He was a DONOR! He is survived by his son Michael; grandson Christopher (Kirstie); sister Pam; former wives, Patti Phoenix and Deborah Dean Davis; nieces and nephews; and his beloved AA family. Memorial TBA.

It is January 2025 and for what ever reason Kenny Bob Davis just jumped into my mind. I knew Kenny (when he was just Ken) back in high school. John Burroughs in Burbank, CA. Kenney was a year behind me, but we were on some of the same sports teams. I ran into Kenny later when he was working at Hydro-Aire in Burbank. We played on the company softball team and I used to go to different places and hear him perform. Back then it was the Kenny Davis Road Show.

I got to perform with him a couple times towards the end. A real gentleman and was encouraging me to chase my late in life comedy adventure. Good guy, good times!

My wife an I moved from New York to Dallas in 1980. We were a young Dou looking to make our way. We were playing a few clubs on Greenville Avenue and someone told us about Kenny Davis and said you just have to see his show at the Railhead. After that it was a must to go see Kenny after our gigs were done. I remember the night we got to sit and talk with Kenney. I told him we were a duo called ODESSA and how much we enjoyed the show. He said you have to come up and do some songs with me. That was the start of our friendship with Kenny. When he got the call to do the film "Gremlins" he called and asked us if we could fill in for him at the Railhead. It was our first big show. How many performers would do that for someone just starting out. We performed with him at several Golf Tournaments and other occasions through out the years. We learned so much from Kenny but mostly how to be professionals. To this day every once in a while when we perform something will remind us of Kenny. He was an awesome entertainer, mentor and friend. He will surely be missed but never forgotten...

Kenny was my cousin and my family would sit around and laugh at the things he said and did. My Mother, his Aunt Nadine and Uncle Carl loved him dearly. When ever he was in town we would all go and laughed til it hurt. He loved making fun of his Aunt and Uncle...and sometimes me. I am sad I did not get to see him before he left. He was a trooper.

I will always remember Kenny Bob from his performances at the Beef and Barrel on Tampa Ave in the San Fernando Valley. He gave me many a cassette tape from his shows. We would stand around for hours in the parking lot telling jokes and stories.
Thank you Kenny Bob for all the good times. You have a place in my heart for ever.

I am late in sharing my thoughts about my relationship with Kenny Bob Davis. It started back in 1973 when I was going through a terrible time personally in my life. A friend of mine said: "You need to get out and have some fun and laughs." He told me about Kenny playing at a nightclub in Burbank, so we went on a Friday night. I never laughed so hard in all my life up to that point. During a break, I was introduced to KBD. We hit it off immediately. I invited him to be in my foursome in the Budweiser Golf Club (monthly tournaments all around the greater Los Angeles area) for which I was the Tournament Chairman. More fun and laughs! I followed him all over the country working in my business travels in a way that I could stop over and take in his shows. I can't tell you how many of my friends I introduced to him by my taking them to his shows. People from all over this country. Everyone of them had the same wonderful experiences that I did. My heart goes out to his family and friends. He was one of a kind and will surely be missed by all whom he touched during his time on this good earth. RIP, my good friend KBD. Don't hit any rollies off the first tee up there in Heaven. Or, miss gimmee puts that I would never give to you. :)

Kenny was a very special person. First one ever to reveal to me that I could go to more than one meeting a day. Great teacher on the golf course, and if life. He will be missed by many.

"KENNY BOB" DAVIS WAS A GREAT FRIEND OF MINE AND MANY, MANY OTHERS. HE BROUGHT MUCH LAUGHTER TO ALL DURING HIS LIFE. I HAVE KNOWN HIM FOR 33 YEARS AND HE CAME TO THE "PRE-MEMORIAL" IRISH OPEN FOR MORE THAN 25 OF 32 YEARS IT HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE. HE WEATHERED THROUGH SOME ADDICTIONS IN HIS EARLY YEARS AND ONCE HE GAVE ALL OF THAT UP, HE SPENT THE REST OF HIS LIFE AS A MODEL AND SUPPORTER AGAINST THESE VICES AND HELPED MANY PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO RUIN YOUR LIFE WITH SUCH NONSENSE. TO MY DEAR FRIEND KENNY BOB.... I MISS YOU TERRIBLY AND CHERISH ALL THE WONDERFUL GREAT MOMENTS WE HAD TOGETHER. MY HEARTFELT SYMPATHY TO HIS ENTIRE FAMILY AND HIS LOYAL FANS WHOM HE MADE FEEL LIKE FAMILY.....INCLUDING ME.

GOD BLESS YOU "KENNY BOB".

Such a good guy and great friend for over 42 years, to say nothing of his great talent.
When people leave this world so suddenly, it is easiest for the newly deceased, but very hard on those left behind. Many people will be thinking fondly of Kenny for many, many years.
So glad to know he went out on top, and he was really satisfied with his last performances, confirmed by 4, count 'em: 4 standing ovations. Way to go Kenny!!
Our love goes with you, always.

He was a wonderful neighbor to all of us and a great friend. He always had a kind and funny word for everyone . He will be remembered with tremendous love and respect and will be terribly missed by all of us.
