Kerry Simon Obituary
His business partner, Cory Harwell, says that Simon died Friday morning at a hospice facility in Las Vegas.
Simon was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy, a degenerative neurological disorder, and died from complications related to the disease.
Known as the "rock 'n' roll chef," Simon appeared on "Iron Chef America" in 2005 and beat Cat Cora in a hamburger challenge.
Harwell says Simon did not let his disorder keep him from doing what he wanted to, which was open restaurants.
Simon operated restaurants at several Las Vegas hotels including Palms Place and Harrah's.
Simon is survived by three brothers.

I am thankful for the chance to get know Kerry. Unfortunately, it was by way of him sharing the disease that took my brother's life - a dreadful disease called Multiple System Atrophy.
Since his death, I have heard many people remark that Kerry lacked any sort of snobbery or attitude - well in this caee, it is definitely true!
He was a genuine and compassionate person. For that reason alone, the world is worse in his absence. But his death is also a loss to the culinary world too, for his creativity and vision fed both the prince and the pauper.
Kerry moved the Fight Against Multiple System Atrophy ahead by light years! We in the MSA community are grateful! He was a courageous voice for all those that suffer silently from this rapid and deadly killer. To Mr Simon's family and friends:
It was only recently that I read of Kerry's battle with MSA. A close friend of mine is battling this horrible disease as well. It is one of those rare, unknown diseases that needs brought to an awareness level and funded for research. Although I felt badly that he had this disease, I was encouraged that he created a platform for, and lent his voice to, MSA. The funding created by him and those who cared for him, and given to the Cleveland Clinic affiliate brain research clinic in Las Vegas was so encouraging and promising. Please don't let this effort stop! May he rest in peace. Now he is the chef for a KING!
