Linda Bennett Obituary

Bennett, Linda Greene (60)
Wife of David B. Cohen, died peacefully at home in Santa Barbara, California, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, November 26, 2004, from complications related to breast cancer. Daughter of famed actor Lorne Greene, Linda was born in Toronto, Canada, where her father was known as the "Voice of Canada" before becoming internationally known as "Ben Cartwright" of "Bonanza". Linda was a dedicated social activist, having been influenced by her mother, father and stepfather, Rabbi Maurice Eisendrath, President of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, a leader of the Reformed Jewish Movement in North America who marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King in Selma, Alabama. Linda also had a chance to see the fruits of her recent labor, having just received copies of her new book, "My Fathers Voice", a biography of the late Lorne Greene, published by iUniverse. Linda's wonderful ability to give of herself was extended to both family and friends, and she could always be counted on, unconditionally, for love, support and understanding. Linda's memory will be in our hearts forever. Linda is survived by her husband David, twin brother Chuck, her daughters Stacey and Danielle, her stepson Douglas, stepdaughter Lauren, sons-in-law Eric, Tom and Jared, grandchildren: Sophie, Austin, Jonas, Amanda, Andrew... and Wattson and Mollie, her beloved Doberman Pinschers! Services were held Wednesday, December 1st at Hillside Memorial Cemetery in Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in the name of Linda Susan Bennett to The Hospice of Santa Barbara ([email protected]) or the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara ([email protected]).

Wonderful actress. I watched an old rerun of Leave it to Beaver this morning and wondered who this lovely girl was who played Wally's dream girl. It was Linda. Then come to find out she was Lorne Greene's daughter! RIP, and thank you for the performances you've given, and will continue to give, for many years to come.
