Lino Palmieri Obituary

April 22, 1942 - April 22, 2017 Lino A. Palmieri of San Marino, CA, and beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home after a long illness at the age of 75. He was born in a small town called Gagliano Aterno in the Abruzzo province of Italy during World War II. After losing his father at a young age, Lino matriculated at Collegio Aterno, a Jesuit boarding school, in nearby Pescara, Italy whereupon his graduation he was one of ten Italian students selected from over a thousand applicants by the U.S. Embassy in Rome to come to the United States to study engineering. After graduating from Cal State Northridge with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Lino, who was denied work in his field of choice - rocket design and feedback control systems - because he was not a U.S. citizen, went to work as an electrical engineer for construction projects and opened up his own company, Lino Palmieri & Associates, in 1976, which he ran for over 40 years. While Lino enjoyed his engineering work and the many friends he made in the construction industry, he found his true calling later in life, transforming a love of food and wine into a business and developed a vineyard in the Central Coast. Over the years, Lino grew several varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese and sold his grapes to some of the premier wine makers in California. Lino appreciated good food and good wines, but more than that, he loved the raucous and jovial dinner environment those two ingredients created. Indeed, there were few things Lino loved more in this world than a loud dinner table comprised of family and friends sharing homemade dishes, good wine, and laughs. Though his work, both in electrical engineering and viniculture, fueled Lino's appetite for life, his true passion was his family. A loving husband and devoted father, Lino will be remembered most by his loved ones for his sense of family. Lino was a staple at many of his son's weekend soccer games, pacing and yelling from the sidelines with his cigar in tow. He also cherished cooking and discussing wines with his daughters who shared their father's zeal for each. Above all however, Lino loved nothing more than playing with any of his six grandchildren who loved him dearly. Lino is survived by his loving wife Angelina, his children Claudia, Romina and Marco, and his six grandchildren, Sophia, Alexis, and Olivia Rask, Luca Blu Giova, and Sebastian and Luna Palmieri.

I was just thinking of Lino yesterday....and today this remembrance arrives....Lino was our source for all needs for electrical knowledge and always delivered on his word. We worked with Lino for over 25 years in the California supermarket arena and it wouldn't have been the same without him and his skillset. Very fond memories of a great professional man....

It is with the deepest sympathy that I recently learned of Lino's passing. I worked professionally with Lino and his office for the past 25 years in the supermarket construction business and he was a staple in our industry. He will be missed by many and our thougths are with his family.
