Lupe Leyvas Obituary

Leyvas, Lupe M.
Lupe Leyvas lost her battle with leukemia on December 23, 2005. She was 79 years old. Lupe was an exceptional person. She gave of herself to the County of Los Angeles, where she was employed, for over 30 years. She helped many in need both through her employment and her every day life. Lupe was also a political person, helping our local assemblymen and congressmen to win elections. Voting was a privilege to her and she encouraged all to do so. Lupe was an activist as well. Firmly believing it was your duty to stand up for injustice. She did so on many occasions. Lupe was an asset to her community, county, government and to all those who were fortunate to know her. She was even more giving in her personal life. She was a caring and giving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her arms were open to all those in need. As she joins her son, Richard Luna, she will be missed more than words can express. Lupe is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Mendiaz; her sisters, Lillian Villegas, Gloria Carrillo, Irene Perez, her brother Albert Leyvas; her five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. Rosary will be held on December 28, at 7 p.m. at St. Benedict Church. Funeral Liturgy will be held on December 29, at 10 a.m., at St. Benedict Church with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Guerra Gutierrez Mortuary (323)722-1900 www.guerragutierrez.com
