Lynn Gifford Obituary

July 1, 1962 - February 16, 2021
Lynn Gifford, 58, of Mar Vista transitioned on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. She was born on July 1, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Gifford worked for LAUSD for three years and 25 years in BHUSD as a Special Education Teacher. Her passion was teaching Special Needs Pre-K and she loved teaching her children about nature and kindness through songs, dance, and creating arts and crafts. Ms. Gifford graduated from Cal State Northridge and attended Beverly Hills HS in Beverly Hills, CA. She is survived by her father, Jack Gifford; daughter, Rose Lynn Gifford; dog, Junie; friends, colleagues, and students. Ms. Gifford was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Gifford; and her brother, Mike Gifford. Some of Lynn's favorite destinations were: Ireland, Amsterdam, Hawaii, Pageant of The Masters, Cambria and Solvang. Whenever she felt sad, she said she would listen to a U2 song and instantly feel better. Lynn was an ordained minister; animal lover and dog owner, enjoyed good sushi; always kept fresh flowers throughout her home; believer in magical fairy dust; and known for her moniker "peace and love." A celebration of life will be planned when social gathering guidelines allow.

Lynn was joy with whom to work....fun, funny, sweet, kind and caring. I was so lucky to have Rose in my class at Horace Mann when I taught first grade. May the family's memories of this delightful woman comfort them at this time. Peace and love, Susie Sadlier

To Coach Jack Gifford.. Condolences and heartfelt sympathy. I had such fond memories with Lynn, Michael and you through the years of boy scouts, baseball and football at BHHS. May you find peace and comfort knowing what a fine father and teacher you were.

Lynn and I were both children of teachers at Beverly Hills High School. We didn't know each other in high school but connected several years later when my daughter was in pre school at Hawthorne and later when both of our daughters were cheerleading together. Lots of laughs and memories with both Lynn and Mike at those Cheer events. What a beautiful, kind, warm, loving, witty, intelligent and interesting person. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to Rose and Coach Gifford.

I've know Lynne since Kindergarten.. she was always a fun and happy little girl and adult.. I'm sharing a photo of a wonderful evening I shared with the Gifford family in the Summer of 2018.. We were at a great rooftop restaurant overlooking the ocean in Laguna Beach CA... I feel so fortunate to have spent time with them... Lynne will be missed.
