Mark Enos Obituary

February 27, 1951 - January 13, 2024 After a long illness, Mark died peacefully at home in Columbus, Ohio with his husband and family at his side.

Survived by his husband, Richard Newcome, and sisters Rebecca Enos (Patricia Walker), Marigrace Deters (Joe), and Ruth A. Enos (Peter Fleischhaker). Nephew Jack Enos (Sara Childers). Nieces Tahna Rurup (Jason) and Claire Deters. Great nephew Cael Rurup and great niece Adaiah Rurup.

Preceded in death by his first partner, Rick Mayhew, his parents Glen M. Enos and Marian Stewart Enos and his sister Bethany Beckman.

Mark was a very talented and respected Los Angeles-based interior designer whose work was featured in many design publications, including Architectural Digest. He was passionate about art and music, and enjoyed singing in the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles. He and Richard enjoyed their longterm subscriptions to the LA Philharmonic and Hollywood Bowl, as well as dance and theatre subscriptions. He loved the Huntington Library and Gardens, often taking visitors to LA for tours there. Since the 1970s, Mark enjoyed spending as much time as possible at "the lake", Balsam Lake in northwestern Wisconsin.

We especially want to thank the sweet care Yvonne Kishler (Richard's mother) gave Mark in the time he lived with Richard and Yvonne in Columbus.

A memorial service will be held in the Los Angeles area in early spring. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Como Park, St. Paul, MN, The Gay Mens' Chorus of Los Angeles or Huntington Library and Gardens, San Marino, CA.

I'm so saddened to hear about Mark. He was one of the first designers I came in contact with when I came to the furniture design business.
He was an amazing designer and a wonderful client.
Peace to his family and friends.
Say Hi to Gary for me Mark. I'll miss you both. The colors of the design world are now a bit more dim for me.

I knew Mark from his Minneapolis days and he and Mark were our friends when Kate and I moved to CA. We went many times to his home (rock Hudson's old house) and to many of the Gay Men's Chorus concerts. As happens in life friends do drift away. He was a terrific man and I'm sorry I didn't keep in touch. My condolences to all his family and friends.

My dear, you and Rick were a right of passage for myself and Pamela. What fun, laughter and cynicism we shared. Thanks to William- we were gifted to share the most important time of our youth with you...Love to you always Heidi

We were so saddened to learn of Mark's passing. We have the fondest memories of Mark and he will hold always hold a special place in our hearts. We worked with Mark and Carmen for a number of years from the late 1990's through the early 2000's. He designed our homes in Palos Verdes and Newport Beach. Our fondest antiques were purchased with Mark. He had a keen architectural eye and impeccable taste. He was a true gem!! We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends. We hope to attend the memorial for him in LA in the spring.
