Mary Fraser Obituary

August 31, 1947 - April 29, 2018 Mary Fraser, 70, a loving mother, sister, and aunt, passed away unexpectedly from a stroke, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in North Hollywood, the youngest of four children to Elva Mary Fraser and Lloyd Friedgen. She lived her entire life in the area where she owned and meticulously designed and maintained her beautiful home in nearby Burbank Hills. Mary grew up in a motion picture industry family, which began with her grandfather, who was a silent actor and producer, and continued with her parents, her siblings, and extended family. Mary graduated from Hollywood High, married Lloyd Nelson, and was blessed with her beloved daughter, Christina Mary. She had an extensive and successful 42-year career in motion pictures. She began her career at David Wolper Productions, then worked her way up to owning her own business, Executive Cutting Service. She personally negative cut over 200 theatrical features and numerous television series, including Titanic, Roots, Platoon, and the Terminator films. Mary never knew a stranger, and was known for her extraordinary kindness. After retiring, Mary was actively involved with La Providencia Guild of Children's Hospital, where she volunteered for many years. Any donations can be made there in her name. Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends and is survived by her daughter, Christina Nelson Thomas (Michael), brother Elliot Friedgen (Dianne), sister Christina Friedgen Koch (Kenneth). An older brother, Lloyd Friedgen (Buddy), predeceased her by five years. A service will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2018 - 1:30pm, at Forest Lawn Glendale, in the Wee Kirk O' The Heather Chapel.

Mary,

after my initial heart wrenching sorrow to hear of your passing my thought was you and Joni are together again. I hope she was there to greet you.

Although we haven't seen each other for a number of years it matters little because we belonged to a large, special varied group of friends that time nor distance could diminish.

Your loving friend,
JM
