October 25, 1955 - November 27, 2020 Forever Loved; Never ForgottenMichael "Mike" Richard MobleyOctober 25, 1955 – November 27, 2020Mike was born in Walla Walla, Washington to Richard & Annette Mobley. Following Richard's college graduation, the young family (including Mike's younger brother Mark) moved to Garden Grove, California where Richard began his 39-year career as an educator. Mike's leadership and entertainment skills were apparent in kindergarten. He was chosen to appear on the television show "Kids Say the Darndest Things" hosted by Art Linkletter. The family moved to Fountain Valley in 1963, where the boys went to elementary and high school. At Fountain Valley High School, Mike was active in student government, sports, and Key Club while maintaining excellent grades. After graduating high school, Mike attended Humboldt State University and majored in Wildlife Management. It was at Humboldt that he met and married the love of his life, Judy Litt. Both returned to Orange County and Judy entered the teaching profession while Mike continued on in the grocery industry as he had done during his studies. Mike served in various store capacities and locations until his retirement in 2018. The Mobley family grew with two lively daughters, Meghan and Katie. Judy passed away unexpectedly in 2005, and Mike raised his girls singlehandedly after that. He was an avid fisherman and reader, and enjoyed fishing with his dad in the Bridgeport area of the Eastern Sierras. Mike's awesome fish tacos were enjoyed by family and friends, as was as his mulled Wassail punch at the holidays. We will miss Mike's hearty laughter and kindness.Saddened by his passing, the family is comforted that he no longer suffers from the diabetes and smoking complications that led to multiple surgeries and hospitalizations. Mike is survived by his daughter Meghan Jimenez and son-in-law William, his daughter Katie Mobley, his mother Annette Mobley, sister Melanie Barney and brother-in-law Gary Barney, brothers Matthew and Mark, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Private services will be held at a later date.
