Patrick Alt Obituary
Beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend, Patrick Alt succumbed to cancer after a valiant fight conducted with dignity and grace, at his home, surrounded by family and friends.
After his graduation from CalArts in 1972, he received his MFA from UC Irvine. Patrick has been an innovative large format Fine Art photographer for over 30 years. He devoted his life to making art. He was a painter, a photographer, an interior designer, furniture designer, teacher, and wooden camera maker. Every aspect of his work reflected his commitment to craftsmanship and excellence.
He has an extensive exhibition record, with his work included in many private, as well as corporate collections. His figurative work is being archived at The Kinsey Institute at the University of Indiana, Bloomington. His powerful mammoth plate portraits of Native Americans in full regalia will be at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles.
At the time of his death, Patrick had just completed his 9th book with the help and collaboration of his dear brother Tim, a well known graphic artist.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa, and their three cats - Chloe, Maya, and Kiki.

I learned how to design furniture from Patrick. His class notes are a valued treasure trove of information, and his passion for design positively impacted me!
I have fond memories of our last class where we sat in his home experiencing the warm and creative spaces he and his wife lovingly created.
Thank you for the legacy you've created in the world of design.
