Pekar, Jr., Dr. Peter P.
Dr. Peter Pekar, Jr., a worldwide recognized expert in strategic alliances died Saturday, November 22 at the age of 61. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 15, 1942. He holds an M.A. degree in mathematics from the University of Illinois (Urbana), and a Ph.D. in business and economics from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Dr. Pekar was a worldwide recognized expert in strategic alliances and was the co-founder of Smart Alliance Partners. From 1992-2001 he was a Senior Advisor to Booz-Allen & Hamilton in the area of strategic alliances. He co-authored the top-selling book, Smart Alliances with John Harbison. During 2001 to 2003, Dr. Pekar was a Senior Alliance Advisor for Houlihan Lokey. A tenured professor at California Polytechnic University of Pomona, CA. A visiting professor at the London Business School (UK), Henley Graduate Management College (UK) and Peter Drucker Graduate School of Management in Claremont, CA. An active board member of the Salvation Army, member of the Jonathan Club and University Club of Chicago. A beloved husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Michele McFaull, his mother, Mrs. Mildred Pekar, and his children, Michele Pekar-Lempereur, Eric Pekar, Bill McElnea and Patrick McElnea; his grandchildren, Daria Lempereur, Henri Lempereur, Bryan Pekar; nephews, Andrew Newcomb, Jordan McFaull, and John McFaull, and his brother Anthony Pekar. Dr. Pekar was preceded in death by his father, Peter P. Pekar, Sr. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29, at 10:00 AM at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary, 1218 Glendon Avenue, Los Angeles, CA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Salvation Army.
