Peter Wold Obituary

January 24, 1960 - July 15, 2019 He projected a laid-back SoCal image: Blond hair, always a tan. But beneath his casual appearance, Peter Wold's passions ran deep. Professionally, Peter brought a calm demeanor and meticulous attention to detail to his 40-year career in the Los Angeles-area television production and transmission scene. Whether he was on-site at live events around the world, or in the background of a studio control room, Peter's passion for excellence in production was admired by colleagues and clients. During his career, Peter worked for ABC Sports, Northwest Mobile Television, Wold Communications, Wold International, DIRECTV and most recently, Spectrum Sportsnet LA. Personally, Peter lived for life at the beach. He grew up surfing the beaches near his childhood home in Brentwood, and lived his adult life within walking distance of Playa del Rey's Dockweiler Beach. He recalled his years living in the beach town of Cayucos as "the absolute best and happiest years of my life." He surfed, swam, camped and enjoyed all aspects of the beach culture (with snowboarding mixed in during the winter). Most recently, he purchased a condo on the sands of San Pancho, near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where he annually vacationed. When he died of natural causes on July 15, Peter had already planned, in detail, his retirement and permanent move to San Pancho, in January, 2022, just after his 62nd birthday. Peter Wold was born in St. Louis Park, MN, to the late Robert N. Wold, and Mary Angell Wold, who survives him. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Wold-Sackey and Molly Seidel. After graduating from Palisades High School in 1978, Peter attended Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo and received his BA in Television and Film Production from Cal State Northridge in 1985. A memorial gathering to honor Peter is planned for mid-August at a beach near Playa del Rey. For more information on the memorial, friends and colleagues may contact [email protected].

PAW, there is a beautiful 50' wall mural that was created in your memory, along the path to Playa San Pancho. This mural is seen directly from Casa PAW. It's a stunning depiction of local tropical birds, created by a beloved local artist Miguel Angel. He created a stunning mural in your memory! We miss you Peter, and the past few years having gotten to know San Pancho... I see what you love about this Mexican surf town, where you'd planned to retire. There are many San Pancho resident locals who remember you very well, Peter, and very fondly. They all miss you! Casa PAW "Peter Albert Wold" ... stop by anytime! July 2023 - Margaret

Peter was remembered on Dia Los Muertos 2022 in San Pancho, Mexico, with a small group of his great friends. Peter's casa was under construction when he passed away in July 2019. It was finished and christened Casa PAW, named for Peter Albert Wold. San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico was his favorite place to relax and rejuvenate. Pete will always be remembered, and his friends in San Pancho miss him dearly.

Pete, you left us two years ago and sadly before your casa had finished being built. Now, two years later and after a crazy 2020, I am proud to say Your retirement plan is now christened as Casa PAW in memory of you. I understand why your retirement plan was to spend half the year in San Pancho. Wow!! The casa you choose in September 2018 (completed March 2020) has breathtaking north views on the stunning white sandy beach. The town is beyond quaint in every way. Your home away from home is truly magnificent and a testament to your careful considered choice on location. Casa PAW is ready for your visit anytime, the good Corona in hand! Bienvenidos Pedro Alberto Wold - PAW.

Wow I just found out - Dec 28, 2020. I worked with him at Wold Communications from when it was in Westwood until it was dissolved. He was a very nice person, very approachable. He actually helped me to understand how satellite transmissions worked. After the company was no longer in business we re-connected through emails. He was one of the nicest guys I've met, one of a kind. I'm so sad to hear of his passing and would like to give my condolences to his family. Fly high with the angels Peter.

My memories of Peter go back to the early days of Wold Communications. Though I only saw him infrequently and never worked with him, per se, even after the company was no more, upon running into him, he seemed genuinely happy to see me. Very sad to hear of his passing. R.I.P dear friend.

Peter was the coolest cat. Period You could walk into a room, look at Peter and feel at ease. An old soul with a big heart and gentle on the eyes. He was a skateboarder, surfer and freehand artist. Peter had an appetite for adventure in his teens. Venturing off on his skateboard down North Bundy to a friend's house or skipping over the canyon to Kenter Elementary for some old school skate runs. He was a dam good skater. Peter's black book of friends was infinite. He was a magnet. He always seemed to be the first to know and the last to tell. A friend for eternity. Love ya Waldo!
