Richard
Some years ago I spontaneously toasted you as the best of the several Grandfathers at the table - appropriate at the time, yet only one example of the man who lived large while embracing everyone and sharing himself along the way.
While searching my thoughts for something more about you to hold high, to remember, and to share. I realized that you were always the man at the table who made time for people.
So, Richard - another toast to you: To Richard, the rare human being at the table who makes time to do the right thing.
Sadly for us, while you have raised our awareness, we are without a successor to you, without someone who easily transcends pleasantries to make time available to offer kindnesses, caring, and courtesy.
Richard, you will be with us and long remembered every time we follow your example, everything we make our time and ourselves available to the people we care about.
And, Richard, I wish for your courage and grace.
