May 19, 1958 - August 23, 2017 Dr. Richard Marias passed away Wednesday afternoon. Rick believed in Tikkun Olam and was actively involved in making our world a better place with his family and those he loved. He is survived by his wife Teri, his children Rachel and David, his mother Seidel, and his brother Joel. Services will be held at Eden Memorial Park Friday, August 25th at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Kids Community Dental Clinic or CFRI.

Bill dragged me to see Dr. Marias shortly after we married. He said Dr. Marias was "one of a kind". Well.....he was right. He was
the best dentist and person I have ever met!! His receptionist followed in his footsteps. I will miss him greatly. Hope he runs across Bill

I met Dr Marias during one of his periodic visits to my mom, Victoria, at the memory care unit where she now resides. We continued to see other on such occasions as our visitation schedules frequently coincided. I greatly appreciate the love, kindness and stalwart friendship he showed to my parents, especially in recent years as they have coped with various challenges. Dr Marias was a man of good character and I so enjoyed our conversations in which we often shared book recommendations with each other. Along with Mom and Dad, I am truly saddened by his passing because it is obvious that he lived an inspired life in service to others. I pray for the blessed repose of his soul and that his memory be eternal.

I am so sad to hear of Dr. Marias passing. He has been my Dentist for over twenty years. He was such a kind, gentle man. I will always cherish the memory of him cleaning my five year old daughters teeth, and listening to their conversation. He put her at ease and even made her laugh.

We are so shocked and saddened to hear of Dr. Marias' untimely passing. He was my dentist for almost 15 years, and my husband's for over 20. I came to him in pain and with a lot of bad dental work. He was so kind, considerate, and I always felt I was in good hands with him. Both my husband and I loved talking about the world, politics, and travel with him. I have been out of the country, and my daughter Ashley just told me the shocking and
sad news of Dr. Marias's untimely passing. My heart aches...

Dr. Marias and his staff made going to the dentist an easy visit. I loved his funky, old-school music. We talked a lot about his love of live music and couldn't wait to hear and share with him our latest musical endeavors.

I had some dental concerns as I was going on
my trip out of the country. He agreed to see me and assured me I would be fine -- as always he was right.

He loved his family fiercely. Dr. Marias was always so kind to my daughter and me, and his staff reflected the same thoughtfulness.

Just to share a story that makes me smile:

My daughter and I were at the Hollywood Bowl going up the escalator. Ahead of us were
Dr. Marias and his wife. He stopped to acknowledge us and was very excited about the concert. He and his wife were like high school kids going out on a date. This is the memory I hold in my heart -- a compassionate man who loved and adored his family...

I am so overwhelmingly sadden by the passing of Dr. Marias. I have been his patient since he took over Dr. Lockwoods practice more than 25 years ago. I knew, even back then, that he would be my dentist for many years to come.

There were so many things about him to appreciate. It goes without saying that he was skillful, creative and dedicated to craft. But what made him even more special to me was his intuitive sense of what I needed to hear and saying exactly the right thing. Recently, after a series of dental issues that happened all at once, I became very upset. Always positive, he promised me that he would put me back together again Those simple words and his reassurances were all I needed to hear to stop my worries. Then there was Dr. Marias, the conversationalist. We talked about books, pets, family. The list is endless. I am now very grateful to have had those moments with him.

I would like to extend my sympathy and sincerest condolences to Teri and the entire Marias family. In my heart I know Richard Marias is a shining star whose love and pride for all of you lives on forever. He was a wonderful man and will always remain in my memories as a good, kind person taken from all of us way too soon.

I was shocked to hear that Dr. Marias suddenly died last Tuesday. I have an appointment Monday and understand a college friend will be there. I attended the services yesterday and have heard the same things I knew of him, kind, interested, accomplished but never bragged. He seemed truly interested in what I, my wife and six adult children were doing, and when asked about his son and daughter, he was proud to tell of their accomplishments.
My comments are related to his professional life, because this where I interacted with him. I had gone to Dr. Lockwood for seventeen years when he decided to retire. He had been a bit prickly, but did outstanding work. I knew Dr. Lockwood would never have his practice taken over by someone that did not measure up. Dr. Marias certainly did, for about twenty-nine years!
I have a brother-in-law who is just now retiring his practice as a dentist in Sonora. His standards are as exacting as Drs. Lockwood and Marias, and whenever I saw him, he would ask to look at and admire Dr. Marias' work. High praise indeed!
I will miss Dr. Marias in so many ways. I am in my late seventies and he assured me that he would take care of me until the end. How sad and unfair that he was the first to leave.
I have loved his staff all these years, and will continue as a patient. Just as Dr. Lockwood before him, I know Dr. Marias successor will be selected with the same exacting standards.
