Ronald Rector Obituary

August 10, 1929 - June 14, 2017 Ronald (Ron) William Rector passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Ron was born to Anjel and Bryan Rector on August 10, 1929 in Long Beach, CA. He attended Long Beach Poly High School and went on to play football at Long Beach City College where he was a member of the 1950 Junior College National Championship team. Ron proudly served in the United States Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his valor in combat as a platoon leader. After the war, Ron attended USC where he earned his Bachelor and two Masters' degrees - MS in Industrial Engineering and MS in Business Administration. Ron was a die-hard Trojan football fan (Fight On). As an Engineer at Aerospace Corp. in El Segundo for over 40 years, his work was his passion. A longtime resident of Carson, CA, Ron and his loving wife of 43 years Suzanne raised their three children Carrie, Morgan and Allison on Belshaw Avenue. They had many close friends in their neighborhood. Ron became a high school football referee in 1967 and officiated games for the next 30 years. Ron was a world traveler, hiker, played a mean game of handball and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Carrie (Doug), Morgan (Carolyn) and Allison, grandchildren, Bryan, Alexis, Bianca, Christian, and Dominic, his companion Jeanne Biggs, her son Geoff (Sandy), his special grandchildren Kelly and Bobby, and a wide circle of friends. He will be missed and was loved by all. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 11am - 2pm at the DoubleTree Hotel, 2 Civic Plaza Drive, Carson, CA. He will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery with his wife Suzanne.
