Ruth Fogelman Obituary

January 19, 1915 - September 27, 2013 Ruth Fogelman, 98, passed away the evening of Friday, September 27, in her Santa Monica residence overlooking the Pacific Ocean. She died in her sleep, of natural causes. Ruth was born to the late Fannie and Abraham Green in St. Louis, with her family eventually gravitating to California. She married twice: first to the late Irving Gold, a jeweler, with whom she had two children, Robert and Vicki; and subsequently to the late Milton Fogelman, a government administrator. Ruth cultivated a life of leisure and companionship. She enjoyed bridge, golf, socializing with a wide circle of friends and admirers, cooking, reading, and the Los Angeles Times crossword, which she completed every morning without fail. Due to this stimulating habit, or perhaps simply through her natural vigor, she remained active and alert up until the day of her passing. Ruth is survived by her brother Jerry Green; daughter Vicki Gold; stepson Robbie Fogelman; grandchildren Walter Gold, Django Gold, and California Gold; and those friends of hers who were able to keep pace with a woman who thrived for 16 months shy of a century. She is missed. Note: Services will be held privately.

Ruth was my mother-in-law, grandmother to my two children, Django and Cali. She was the best mother-in-law anyone could have asked for. She loved me and my children and she was fun and smart and supportive always. I will miss her dearly.
