Ruth Roman Obituary

December 28, 1918 - November 13, 2016 Ruth Roman passed away peacefully at the age of 97 at her home on November 13, 2016. Ruth was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 28, 1918. Ruth married the Love of her life, Harry Roman in Cleveland, Ohio in 1938 and shortly thereafter relocated to Los Angeles, California. Harry Roman passed away at the age of 89 in May, 2003. Ruth and Harry had many philanthropic activities that included The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, The Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, and were founding members of Stephen S. Wise Temple. Ruth spent a substantial portion of her time and energy toward the Ruth and Harry Roman Emergency Department at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, which included a gift in 1995 that launched a major expansion and renovation of the Emergency Department. Their generosity also included the Ruth and Harry Roman Chair in Neonatology, The Cardiology Department and the 8Th Floor Recovery Room. They chaired many of the fund-raising events themselves. Besides her philanthropic activities, Ruth loved spending time with her family, traveling, interior design and hosting parties Ruth is survived by her children Phillip J. Roman (Elaine) and Susan Curtis (Bill). She was also Ruthie to her five grandchildren: Yvette Roman (Fred Davis), David Curtis (Robin), Cameron Curtis, John Roman (Beth) and Caroline Roman, and five great-grandchildren, Casey Curtis, Sarah Curtis, Hayden Curtis, Jake Roman and Charlotte Roman, all of whom she loved dearly. Services will be held on Thursday November 17 at 1:00pm, at Hillside Memorial Park.
