Stephen Leisy Obituary

Leisy, Stephen
October 13, 1940 - July 9, 2010
Born in Long Beach, CA; passed away at the age of 69 in Joseph, OR. The only child of Willard and Elvira Leisy, Steve graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School and USC. While at USC, Steve became an avid lifelong basketball and football fan. Before the USC/UCLA football game of 1962, and as a proud member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Steve was known to liberate over 100 white mice, painted with Trojan T's, in the UCLA library. When not harassing UCLA students, Steve served his country as a member of the Air Force Reserves at March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA. After college Steve began a successful career as a computer salesman and programmer at NCR. In the mid-70's Steve moved to Seal Beach, CA and founded The Forms Desk, Inc., a successful company specializing in custom business forms and computer supplies. Steve's diligent work ethic, honesty, humor and genuine caring for others resulted in many of his clients becoming lifelong friends. For over twenty years each October Steve lead clients, friends and their families on a fishing trip to Panguitch Lake, Utah, where cans of creamed corn could often be found in a certain orange Volkswagen bus, and where the kid with the biggest fish won a silver dollar. In addition to helping create lifelong memories Steve enjoyed surfing Huntington Beach, San Onofre and K-55/K-68 in Mexico, always traveling in the orange bus. Retiring in 1995, Steve moved to beautiful Wallowa Lake in Joseph, OR, where he lived for fifteen years, continuing to fish, hike, read mystery novels, and cheer on USC. Steve died after a brief battle with brain cancer knowing he is deeply loved by his daughter, Andrea Kristen Leisy, Patricia Walker of Joseph, OR, her children Danielle and Jon Walker, Cousin Joan Martin of West Covina, CA, his father's sister Aunt Gertrude of Seattle, WA, as well as numerous other friends and relatives. A grave site funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. at the Prairie Creek Cemetery in Joseph, OR. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the San Diego Spaniel Rescue, or a charity of your choice.

Steve, since I haven't heard from you, I did a google search to see if I could find news of you. This is where I discovered your fate. Today is my one year anniversary and I wanted you to know. You were such a good friend, roommate and inspiration, buddy. We had some fun and crazy times together in Silly Beach, didn't we? I Love You, Steve and if Andi reads this - I send my sympathy, Andi, and to the other friends of Steve. I am thankful today on Thanksgiving, for having you in my life. You were one of few lifelong friends and I value that friendship to no end.
