I just learned of Susan's passing and I am so sad to know that she is gone. I grew up with Susan on Vermont Avenue, we were next door neighbors and oh what fun we had being together. We were inseparable and spent our summers at the beach house in Santa Monica. I loved Susan and her parents, Carmen & Louie, they treated me like a daughter and wanted Susan to have a companion to play with. I was the chosen one. In the early 60's I moved to Northern California to take a job there and our friendship waned a bit because of the distance and life changes. I am sending my deepest sympathy to Carl and Cara & Chip. Susan was a great friend and a wonderful mother who loved her family so much. You are all in my prayers.
Sincerely, Joyce Sawaya Dodson

I met Sue in 1967 during my year in California. I recall a wonderful wedding at a smart LA country club. We enjoyed Sue and Carl’s company on many occasions on their trips to London and have fond memories of a visit to their BelAir home in the 1990s. Especially memorable was their visit to ourNorfolk home when we exposed them to the charms of an English country church at Christmas time after which Sue donned rubber gloves to clean our kitchen pans - a world away from life on the West Coast. Sue, you gave pleasure to many and will be much missed.

I knew Susan most of my life, our mothers were best friends and active in politics together. I know how much her family meant to her, and how much she will be missed. A good person and great soul.
