Suzanne Sty Obituary

February 10, 1946 - July 9, 2018 Suzanne Louise Sty, born February 10th, 1946 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away July 9th in Los Feliz, California. Her parents Anthony L. Sty and Gladys A. Flamm met and married in France while serving in the US Army during WWII. Suzanne was the eldest of four siblings; sisters Sandra Lee and Sherrill Lynn, and brother Scott Randall. Suzanne lived a life filled with appreciation for the beauty that surrounded her and was especially fond of spending time near the ocean. Her future education and career path manifested her love of literature, film, theatre and fashion. She attended UC Davis after high school graduation in 1965, majoring in literature, later moving to Southern California where she attended Long Beach State and UCLA exploring her passion for design. Known for her beautiful calligraphy, she was often asked to pen invitations to weddings and special events. During the 1970s and '80s Suzanne worked with the Los Angeles Music Center as an administrative director where she was responsible for overseeing the annual visit of the New York Opera. She assisted in coordinating the first visit of the Royal Opera of Covenant Gardens to LA in 1984, directing intimate details of the Opera Gala. After leaving the Music Center, Suzanne began her career with Warner Brothers, initially working with the Studio Stores and later moving to Technical Operations. Delighted to be working on the lot, she enjoyed offering VIP tours to family and friends throughout her tenure and retired in 2008. During her time with the studios she hosted personal Oscar parties complete with red carpet, ballots, and prizes for the most correct Oscar predictions. Her delightful commentary on the red carpet fashions and acceptance speeches will be greatly missed. Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Anthony, and her younger sister, Sandra Lee Ann. Survived by her sister Sherrill Taylor (Glenn) and brother Scott Sty (Julia), nephew Michael and niece Kazlynn. Her family wishes to acknowledge the loving kindness and consideration expressed by her neighbors and friends in Los Angeles; she was very grateful to have you in her life. The memory of her generosity and kind spirit will live forever in our hearts. A celebration of her life is planned in Sedona with family early next year.
