Toby Evans Baker

November 26, 1935 - February 4, 2015 Toby Evans Baker passed away at his home in Newport Beach on February 4, 2015, surrounded by his family. Toby was born in Glendale, California and was the only child of Mason Rogers Baker and Margie Evans Baker. Toby served in the Armed Forces and saw active duty in the Korean War. After returning home, Toby enjoyed his time working for television stations KTLA and KOCE, where he was the technical director. Toby was also the owner of Bakers Westcliff Cameras in Newport Beach for several years, where many Newport Beach locals, including John Wayne himself, would often stop by for a chat. Toby loved his boat and boating. He spent many happy hours on the ocean and touring local islands with his close friends. He was a long time member of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club, and the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach, CA. He was a loving father, stepfather, and husband and was dearly loved by his family and friends. Toby is survived by his wife, Shirley Baker, his son, Steven Baker, and his daughter, Sharon Maybrier, all of Newport Beach; and his stepdaughters, Katherine Burke of Carlsbad, CA, and Lisa Yesson of San Jose, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Courtney and Nick, and his step grandchildren Claire, Ben, and Charlie. A memorial service for Toby will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, on February 11, 2015.
