Harvey Butler Obituary
LAURINBURG — Harvey "Bo" Hunter Butler, Jr., 67, of Laurinburg passed away to his Heavenly home on Monday, March 26, 2018.
Bo, the only son of Eliza Pat McMillan Butler and the late Harvey Hunter Butler, Sr., was born May 24, 1950 in Sylva. He proudly served his country in the National Guard. He was known as a true business man, the owner and operator of The Plaid Piper, Butler Mini Storage and Butler Camping Center.
He also worked alongside his father in his business, The Butler Tractor Company. Bo served his community as a former Laurinburg Councilman and Mayor Pro Temp from 1993 until 2002. He served as a board member of the Laurinburg Housing Authority and former chairman of the Laurinburg Tourism Development Authority. In honor of his service, he was a recipient of the Jaycee Distinguished Service Award.
He faithfully served as an active member of the First United Methodist Church. Bo loved traveling to his cabin in the mountains, fishing, going to the beach and shark fishing. His greatest joy was sharing time with his family and many special friends.
Surviving are his loving wife, Nancy Barbour Butler of their home in Laurinburg; sons, Hunter McMillan Butler and wife Melanie of Cary; and William "Will" Davis Butler of Bryson City; his grandchildren, Harrison Davis Butler and Amelia Gray Butler; mother, Eliza Pat Butler of Laurinburg; two sisters, Katherine Butler Mabe and husband Ken of Southport; Evelyn Phillips Butler Hallan and husband Jay of Durham. He also leaves behind and a host of loving family and many friends.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 at the First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Terry Hunt. A private interment will be at a later date
The family requests in lieu of flowers for memorial donations to be given to the First United Methodist Church, 101 West Church Street, Laurinburg, NC 28352 or Boy Scout Troop 447 at the First United Methodist Church 101 West Church Street, Laurinburg, NC 28352.

I am so sorry to hear of Bo's passing. I have been away from Laurinburg for so long, I tend to miss out on allot of news. Bo was an awesome person and a great husband & father. He is in a much better place. God bless the whole family.
