LAURINBURG — Morgan Faith Locklear, 19, of Laurinburg, beloved daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend went to her Heavenly home on Aug. 19, 2017.
Morgan was born on May 7, 1998 to Pamela Locklear McGirt. She graduated top of her class at Scotland High School in 2016 where she was a member of the National Honor Society, SAT Wall of Fame and the Spanish Club.
Morgan was currently a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in English and Native American Studies, and a Carolina Covenant Scholarship recipient. She aspired to be an English professor and share her love of books and reading. She attended Northview Harvest Ministries and loved serving as the Toddler Church Teacher.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cyrus and Mary Elizabeth Reece, Robert Locklear and Dorothy McGirt.
She is survived by her parents, Pamela Locklear McGirt and Elton McGirt of Laurinburg; her maternal grandparents, James and Martha Locklear of Laurinburg; paternal grandparents, Bert and Gladys Eason of Wallace; brothers, Joshua Ray Locklear of Maxton, and Chelton Carter of Jacksonville, Fla.
She also leaves behind, loving aunts, Rebecca Hubbard (Robbie), Debra Starnes (Joe), Joann McGirt, Connie Locklear Logelin (Roger), Aneissa Locklear (Woody); uncles, Willie McGirt and Jimmy Dean Dial; her special cousins, Joshua Loren Logelin, Scott Ryan Bowen, Jordan Frances Logelin, Harleigh Elizabeth Faulk and a host of loving relatives and many friends.
Funeral services to honor the life of Morgan will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Pastor Kenneth Blease, Pastor Earl Henderson and Pastor Faye Coates. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 2 until 4 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
Morgan lived an exceptional life and she will be loved and missed by all. Memorial donations may be given in her memory to the Scotland County Literacy Council, 213 McLaurin Street, Laurinburg, NC 28352 or the Orange County Literacy Council, 200 N. Greensboro Street, Carrboro, NC 27510.
