Daniel E. Combs

Dan, born in Long Beach on April 8, 1948, passed away on January 11, 2018. Dan graduated from Millikan HS in 1966. He is survived by his wife, Christine; daughters, April Vrtis (Jason) and Annie Casey (Justin); grandsons, Jack, Max and Ben Vrtis; brother, Steve Combs (Evelyn); niece, Jenny Lee; nephews, Chris and Tony; uncle, Ted Christensen and aunt, Bonnie Widener; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eloy and Claudine Combs. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10 am at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 5100 E. I miss you so much. Everyone says in time the grief gets easier and I will learn how to live without you. It isnt true. Each day gets harder. Each day I wake up and for the first few seconds I think I have had a horrible nightmare. And then I realize you are actually gone and the wave of sorrow is too much to bear. Everyday is just another day without you. I look up at the moon, when I see the sunset, when the wind gently blows and in the quiet times I see you and feel your presence sometimes. I wish I could tell you one more time how much I love you and need you. Forever and always....I love you to the moon and back. :(

Everyone at S&J Plastering is so saddended by the loss of such an honorable, kind, and generous man. Dan was the best at his career and our rep for many years. What a welcomed break it was to sit and chat with you whenever you would come by the office, always with goodies to make me smile (& fat!)
It sure is true in your case, the good die way too young. We will all miss you very much and think of you often.

Sorry to hear of your loss to all the Combs Family me and my wife Eleanor knew the mother and father for a number of year and had great respect for them, I wanted to attend the service, but had cataract surgery on Thursday the 26.

I was so saddened to hear that Dan passed away. Although I haven't seen him in years now, my memories of him are all still warm and make me smile: him playing the Beatles songs on his guitar or singing Notorious BIG raps just to make us laugh. He's even cracking jokes on our wedding video and I'm so glad we watch that on our Anniversary every year and get to laugh again. He was always trying to make us smile and laugh, Annie! I know having a light like that be missing from your life is all the more difficult when they are so warm and bright and fun. I know his girls were the pride of his life and that he is in Heaven smiling down on all of his family. Wishing you peace and healing.

Daddy, I am speechless...I don't know what to do or what to say. I am completely lost.
My only comfort is knowing you are reunited with Grandma and Pagaw. You are gone too soon but I know you are with the Lord and you have peace. No more suffering, no more pain only happiness. I know you are up there jammin' with Lennon!! Jack, Max and Ben were blessed with a wonderful Grandfather. They are so upset and miss you so very much too.
