Gloria Blankinship Obituary
(born Gloria Aloha Greene), age 81 from Lakewood, California, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Gloria was born on July 18, 1936 and raised in Los Angeles, California. She was the daughter of Edward C. Greene and Irene Victoria (Koppel) Greene. She will always be remembered as a loving sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her brother, Roderick Greene and her daughter, Bonnie (Blankinship) Neally and her grandchildren: Dionna (Neally) Menefee, Daniel Neally and Angela Neally.
Gloria lived from 1965 to 1993 in Torrance, California, where she raised her daughter Bonnie while working for The Allen Company, TRW and Northrop. She moved to Lakewood, CA in 1993 to be near her grandchildren. Gloria loved her lunches with friends, visits with her family, and especially her trips to Ojai. Always on the lookout for that special art piece, she especially enjoyed fairs and craft shops.
Gloria leaves a life of kindness and good will to her friends and family. She always had a kind word and an ear to listen when those she cared for needed someone to be with. Gloria had a love for helping animals and she always had one or more adopted dogs that she loved and cared for. Gloria has been a long time supporter of the SPCA as well as several dog rescue groups in the area. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 1:00pm at 4551 Hazelbrook Ave. Long Beach, CA. A gathering of fellowship to celebrate Gloria's life will follow the service.
