James Armor Obituary

James Otto Armor, Jim as he was known, was born in Long Beach, CA on November 19, 1937 to James Rankin and Vivian Lucille Armor. He grew up in Long Beach and attended Long Beach Poly High School, where he was a member of the Delphi Fraternity and served as President. It was there in his Sophomore year, 1953, Latin Class, that he met his future wife, Linda Virginia Jones. They began dating and together they went on to Long Beach City College. He was a member of the Tong Fraternity there and also served as President. They both attended Cal State University Long Beach with Jim earning his B.S. and was just 3 classes away from earning his MBA. A job opportunity caused him to leave school early. While at CSULB, Jim pledged Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and served as President, Eminent Archon. During his college years, and long after Jim and Linda were married, he served in the Navy Reserves for 8 years. They married in April of 1960 and celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this year. Jim started as a salesman in the Plastics Industry rising to owning his own businesses and Real estate. Linda and Jim had three children, one granddaughter, a son in law, and two step grand children: Laurel, Patrick, Cindy, Delaney, Grant, Taylor and Annalise. He enjoyed many things, but most of all family and friends were a priority. He was involved in the Huntington Harbour Anglers group with a highlight being an annual fishing trip with At-Risk-Youth. He enjoyed "Friday Night Dinners" with lifelong neighborhood friends, a "Pops" couples group with Long Beach friends, and a Weigh-in/Out group that started with Jim's CSULB Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity Brothers. Jim passed away from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis on June 4, 2019. Besides his Loving wife, Linda, and immediate family, he is survived by his two sisters, Adrianne (Patrick) and Marilyn (Fred), and many Nieces and Nephews. The family wishes to thank Sea Crest Hospice and Nurse Next Door Caregivers for their commitment, professionalism and care of Jim. Services will be held Friday, June 14th at 3:00pm. Please consider a donation to one of Jim's favorite charities: The Edison High School Special Abilities Cluster (SAC) Booster Club 501 3C in honor of his granddaughter, Delaney, website = www.sacboosterclub.wixsite.com/chargers. Jim wore a Reyn Spooner every day and Sperry Top-Sider shoes. Please wear your Hawaiian shirts if coming to his Celebration of Life. Jim and Linda were always together and often shared their love story of 66 total years together as a couple. Jim is remembered as a proud man, steadfast provider, believer in all things, and a "True Gentleman", SAE motto. He will be dearly missed.

I'm very sad to hear about Jim's passing. Sending condolences and best wishes to Jim's wife, Linda and his kids, and Delaney. I know how much he loved his family. He was a very devoted and hard-working man. Thank you for our annual sandwich meeting. I'll miss them and you.
