Lawrence Rollins Obituary

Lawrence Philip Rollins Lawrence "Larry" Rollins was born in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve, 1952. He died of natural causes on August 15, 2010, in Kirkland, WA. He was the 7th of 11 children of Thomas and La Verne Carlton Rollins. He was raised in El Monte and Covina, CA. He attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and graduated from Covina High School. He taught catholic school children in Los Angeles and Long Beach for many years until he "retired," moving to Reno where he became assistant plant manager of a health products distributor. He is survived by three sisters and four brothers. Larry also has many nieces, nephews and cousins, and he loved all his family whole-heartedly. He was the uncle who always brought silver dollars to the children on special occasions; he was a wonderful musician and song writer. Many of the family looked forward to his guitar playing at the family reunions. He was a teacher and writer, a pilot and loyal friend. He relished card-playing and loved to put one over on the casinos. He leaves behind a family who will miss him greatly until we are joined beyond this life. A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Hospice Reflection Room in Kirkland at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2010. Larry requests any remembrances be made to the charity of your choice. I'm saddened to hear about Larry and for your families loss. I graduated High School with Larry and was in the Boy Scouts with him. Troop #433 West Covina (St. Christophers Church). I remember Larry"s Grandfather or Uncle was one of our Scoutmasters (Middle 1960's).Let's remember... Drove a 1963 or 1964 Pontiac Tempest Lemans Sport Coupe and walked with a limp. Once again,my condolences for your loss. Phillip Proteau Class of 1971

My thoughts and prayers are with you. A light was extinguished when Larry passed from this world but a light was illuminated when he arrived at his next destination on his journey.

This really breaks my heart. Larry and I wrote some great songs together. Always searching for that "Hit Song" Deep inside Larry cared about others. He was gifted with words, he could tell a story. He once wrote a song called "A Cat named Rose" It was one of his finest.
Thanks Larry...
