Wanda Berbower Obituary

Wanda Lee
Brown Berbower

Wanda Lee Brown Berbower passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 14, 2012. Born July 30, 1923 in Long Beach, she was daughter of Theresa Marie Kurtz and John Landis Brown. Wanda Lee graduated from Wilson High School in 1941 and attended Long Beach City College before marrying the love of her life, Raymond F. Berbower, to whom she was devoted for 67 wonderful years. Mom had a bright and creative mind and a limitless heart. She had many lifelong friends, was Raymond's devoted "Rotary Ann," and was a life member of the Assistance League of Long Beach for 40 years. Her greatest achievement and pleasure, however, was her family. Wanda Lee is survived by her husband, Raymond; her son, Steve and wife, Susan of Seal Beach; son, Craig and wife, Terri of Sacramento; and daughter, Cynthia Berbower Hope of Kona, Hawaii. She was "Nanny" to 8 Berbower grandchildren: Jeffrey, Mark, Amy, Jennifer, Kevin, Jason, Stephanie, and Hayley. She was also great-grandmother to Spencer, Trevor and Maxwell. A private gathering to celebrate her life will be held at the family home they built together in Park Estates nearly 60 years ago. Donations may be made in Wanda Lee's memory to Assistance League of Long Beach. She deeply touched us all and will live in our hearts forever. Dear Grandmother,
It's almost been 10 years since your passing and Lisa and I still think of you and Grandfather often. I miss talking with you and visiting at Christmas and different holidays and hearing about all your trips you traveled. Love to you forever.

Mom, You passed seven years ago this month. We think and talk of you and Pop so often. Steve and I work in your garden everyday and have helped it flourishthe roses are plentiful and beautiful. You would have loved them and the perfumed scents they bring into the house. Hays is soon to be 20 and remarked yesterday how she wishes she had known you as an adult. We miss you and Dad but carry u every day in our hearts. You two were THE BEST mother-in-law and father-in-law any woman could ask for.

Wanda Lee and Raymie were a wonderful couple and I was privileged to be one of their nephews. Their love and devotion for each other was eternal and joyful, for them and for everyone who witnessed it.

Always a pleasure getting together with Grandmother & Grandfather Berbower! I will remember this well put together woman in many ways but the first memory will be how she loved her mint jelly with her lamb!

Dearest "Nannie,"
You were such a light in our lives and a wonderful model for our children. You have left a great legacy with your dedication to Pop and to our family and with your positive attitude in every challenge. You were strong, supportive, and, most of all, unconditionally loving. I will miss our almost daily talks; you became my dearest friend. I am blessed to have enjoyed 36 years as your daughter-in-law, for you always dropped the "in-law" part and treated me as a daughter. God Bless You, and, as you always said at our parting, "Love You!" Susan
