Las Cruces - DANNY C. TRUJILLO, has been a resident of Las Cruces since 2013, formally a long-time resident of Socorro, NM passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020. He was born May 16, 1940 in Santa Rita, NM and grew up in Deming. He is survived by his wife, Betty Flores Trujillo; son, Steve Trujillo and wife Elisa of Missouri City, TX; daughter, Cynthia Trujillo and John Valdez of Ballwin, MO; his special grandchildren, Samuel and Alexandra Trujillo; sister, Ramona Trujillo and brother James Trujillo and wife Nelly, of Las Cruces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rosendo and Lucinda Trujillo, stepmother Isabel Trujillo and brother, Jimmy Trujillo.

Danny graduated from Deming High School in 1960, when he married his high school sweetheart, Betty. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 12, 2020. Danny graduated from New Mexico State University in 1971 and received his Master's degree in 1975. They moved to Salt Lake City in 1972, where he worked for Utah State University as an Extension Agent for two years. Their move back to New Mexico was in 1974, when he went to work for NMSU Extension Service in Socorro, NM. He would often tell you that he was supposed to run the pilot office for 6 months and then move to Las Cruces but that never happened. He chose to stay in Socorro and was employed by the NM Department of Labor where he was Area Director for three counties for 25 years. Danny was involved in his community for many years as President of the Chamber of Commerce which he was voted "Chamber Commerce Man of the Year" for 1986-87. He was on the Socorro School Board for 16 years and was elected President-elect for the NM School Board Association and received the President's Award which went to two board members in the state. He was also active in other organizations in the community including the Beautification Committee, Lions Club, the American Cancer Society, Socorro County Housing Authority Board member, Red Ribbon Campaign, New Mexico GRADS Member, and NM Republican Party Treasurer.

After his retirement from NM Department of Labor, he was employed by Eastern NM University as a Site Coordinator/Job Developer from 2001 to 2004. In 2004, he went into full retirement, which he really enjoyed. His life's highlight was going on cruises.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 2 PM Friday, August 21, 2020 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Memorial Mass will follow immediately thereafter. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date in a private ceremony.
