Florence Archuleta

Florence Archuleta (86) of Las Cruces, NM, passed away peacefully in her Albuquerque home on July 28, 2017, only seven weeks after her husband Clarence, was called home to our Lord. Born in La Mesa, NM, Florence was a strong and independent woman. There she worked on the family farm and helped care for her family. In 1959, Florence met Clarence at the historic El Patio dance hall in Old Town Mesilla and they soon married and moved to Questa, New Mexico. There they bought a farm and she worked the land and was a full-time homemaker. They later moved to Las Cruces, where she raised her family and cared for her husband.
Florence deeply loved her children: her son Fernando and his wife Gloria, son Raymond and his wife Richeliza, daughter Rosemarie and her husband Michael Sanchez. She cherished her time with her 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Florence also loved the outdoors as well as gardening--she could always be found caring for her flowers and plants. Later in life, Florence courageously braved the vast, dark ocean known as Alzheimer's disease.
Florence's nephews Juan Archuleta, Teddy Archuleta, Marvin Archuleta, Gabe Salazar, Dickie Quintana and Grandson Isaiah Sanchez will serve as pallbearers. A special thanks to Martha Martinez, who helped care for Florence for the past 2 ½ years. A rosary will be held on Wednesday, August 2nd at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM at 8 am, immediately followed by the funeral mass. Florence will be interred at 1:30 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery where her loving and caring husband Clarence Archuleta is interred.
