Richard McKay Shelburne

Las Cruces - Richard McKay Shelburne, 77, passed away on December 1, 2019 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was a life-long problem solver, engineer and lover of family.

Richard was born in Sherman, Texas to Richard and Dorothy Shelburne on September 21, 1942. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1960 and the University of Texas in 1967. He was in the U.S. Army Engineering Corp for 2 years and worked as an electrical engineer at White Sands Missile Range for 33 years. Richard married Annie Noelle Noel on December 28, 1990 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He served 3 years as a deacon at First Christian Church and 19 years as the statistician for the Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary.

He is survived by his spouse, Annie Noelle Noel of Las Cruces NM; his children, Richard P. Shelburne of Las Cruces NM, Michael and Nonniekaye Shelburne of Silver Spring MD, Chris Shelburne of Houston TX, Brian and Julie Noel of Charleston SC, and Chris and Kathleen Burmeister of Albuquerque NM; his sister, Susan Rolfe of McKinney TX, and his grandchildren, Paige, Justin and Jason Shelburne of Silver Spring MD, Sebastian and Leyna Noel of Charleston SC, and Alexander Burmeister of Albuquerque NM.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Shelburne.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In leu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to Mesilla Valley Hospice via The Emporium.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the friends and co-workers at Memorial Medical Center Auxilians, staff at Memorial Medical Center Infusion Therapy where he received care for 19 years, and the nurses, pastors and social workers at Mesilla Valley Hospice.
