Daniel Levengood Obituary

Daniel P. Levengood EAST MOLINE Daniel P. Levengood, age 58, of East Moline, Ill., passed away Sunday, May 13, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Ill. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday , May 17, 2007, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorial may be made to First Church of Christ, Scientist in Moline, Ill.; or the fund to be established for his grandchildren's education. Dan was born on January 29, 1949, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, the son of Robert and Wilma Schoener Levengood. He married Elizabeth Lowenberg on June 3, 1972, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He graduated in 1976 from The University of Iowa with a degree in business administration. Dan was currently employed as a corporate occupational safety specialist at Deere and Company, Moline, Ill., where he has been employed since 1979. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Illinois Self Insures Association Board of Directors, National Safety Council Ergonomics Committee and National Safety Council Automotive, Metals, Power Press Section Committee. He enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining family and friends. Above all, his time was totally devoted to his grandchildren, Charlie and Bella. Survivors include his wife Lisa; his daughter Sarah and her husband Steve Kautz and their children Charlie and Isabella of Hampton, Ill.; his son Danny Levengood and girlfriend Tiffany Judy of Iowa City; his mother Wilma; his brother and wife Bob and Carol Levengood and their children Kristen and Mike of Lebanon, Pa.; his sisterin-law and her husband Mary Lee and Lynn Friesth of West Bend, Wis., and their children Derek, Erika Friesth and Leif Rauer; brothers-in-law Chris and Sue Lowenberg of Lansdale, Pa., and their children Andrea and Todd, John and Rosemary Lowenberg of Snowmass, Colo., and their children Amy and John Jr. He was preceded in death by his father and his father and mother-in-law John and Betty Lowenberg of Ottumwa, Iowa. The family would like to thank Henry and Beverly Bentley for their caring and loving assistance.
