Martha Jean Horner

Martha Jean Horner, 66, passed away on the 5th of April 2021 at her home in Marion, Pennsylvania surrounded by her family. Martha was born on Sept 21, 1954 in Hershey, PA to Joseph L. Jr. and Carrie (Etchberger) Graybill. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Robert E. Graybill and Joseph L. Graybill III. She is survived by her sister Carol A. Chiolo and brother John M. Graybill. She is survived by her husband John A. Horner, her daughter Christina M. Shank (Brendon), her four sons Nathanael J. Horner (Jodi Gayman), Jonathan D. Horner (Ashley Gastrock), Joseph R. Horner (Megan Eby) and Matthew J. Horner (Andrea Neff). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren.

She graduated from Lower Dauphin High School and shortly after obtained her LPN from Steelton-Highspire School of Practical Nursing, Harrisburg, PA. Once married her focus was on raising her children and supporting her husbands teaching career at Shalom Christian Academy, Chambersburg, PA. After working for 11 years at Menno Haven Nursing Home, Chambersburg, PA, she retired in 2018. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She enjoyed crafting and making crocheted items for her grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting Holstein cow memorabilia and Boyds bears. Martha was a member of Montgomery Brethren in Christ Church and active with the sewing circle and kitchen committee.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, the 10th of April at 11am with a time of fellowship to follow at 12pm in lieu of a viewing. Both will be held at Mount Rock Church, 22 Mt Rock Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the Cleona Camp Meeting Building Fund, c/o Matthew Bachman, 153 E. Kercher Ave. Lebanon, PA 17046.

Martha, you were my first charge nurse when I started my career in nursing as a CNA. You were very inspirational and helped
nurture my nursing transition from CNA to LPN and now RN. Thank you for all the experiences we shared together. ❤ I will miss you greatly!
