Ralph Bargo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Ltd. - Millersburg on Dec. 18, 2025.
MILLERSBURG - Ralph Raymond Bargo
On December 15, 2025, Ralph "Butch" Bargo found peace in the arms of Jesus, free from the pain of his brief struggle with pancreatic cancer. Anyone lucky enough to meet Butch was treated to his quick wit and infectious zest for life.
Born the youngest of three on November 18, 1951, in Lebanon, PA, Butch grew up in Hummelstown surrounded by family. He faced learning challenges with determination and pride, celebrating his graduation from Lower Dauphin High School in 1971.
After graduating and losing his mother in 1974, Butch, his brother Dale, and their father made a new home on State Street in Harrisburg, where Butch stayed until his father's passing in 1989. He and Dale then settled in Camp Hill. Butch became a cherished maintenance worker at Gannett Fleming, where he and his brother were met with genuine gratitude and respect from coworkers. He took great pride in his work and reluctantly retired early when health concerns arose.
Butch filled his free time with search-a-word puzzles, coloring, and cheering on his favorite teams: the Phillies, Eagles, and PSU. He was the go-to source for sports scores and stats, always eager to share his knowledge. When he wasn't following the games, he delighted in reruns of Seinfeld and Gunsmoke, often swapping favorite episode stories with his niece, Melanie.
In 2021, Butch moved to Halifax and quickly made dear friends in his apartment building. Though he cherished those friendships, his heart was set on living with his brother at Northern Dauphin Nursing and Rehab. In April 2025, that wish came true, and he spent his final eight months savoring each day with his brother and joining in daily activities whenever he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Sara Bargo. Butch will be deeply missed by his brother, Dale of Millersburg; sister, Bonnie Espenshade (Gary) of Canadensis, PA; Niece, Melanie Morrison (Jason) of Millersburg, PA; nephew Brian Espenshade (Lisa) of Canadensis, PA; two great nieces, Katelin and Hannah; three great nephews, Kaden, Ethan, and Bennett.
Celebration of life will be held at the family's convenience.
Arrangements are being cared for by the staff of Minnich Funeral. We are honored to serve this family at our Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Ltd., Millersburg location. To sign the guestbook go to www.minnichfuneral.com.

As one of Butch's cousins, my sister Nancy and I grew up around Butch, Bonnie, and Dale. I was always amazed at how knowledgeable he was about sports. From what I recall, I think baseball and football were his favorites. I remember one time at a picnic at our house with other relatives, we were playing baseball in our orchard and Butch was the pitcher. He could pitch! He kept pitching fast balls and the girls on the team would whine about how fast he was pitching! Butch just smiled and kept pitching! I always enjoyed being around Butch, Bonnie, and Dale. I will miss him.

I didn´t know Ralph, but I taught at Lower Dauphin, beginning my career there in the junior high school in 1969. I wish I had known him because he sounds like a beautiful person. My condolences to his family. You apparently are close and caring siblings who have composed a loving tribute to your special brother.
