Nancy Riegert Obituary

Nancy R. Riegert SELINSGROVE Nancy R. Riegert, age 91, of 611 Picnic Lane, Selinsgrove, and a former resident of Northumberland, died Sunday in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was born in Lebanon on Dec. 25, 1915, the daughter of the late John and Florence Meck. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, in 2004. She graduated as valedictorian from Jonestown High School in 1933 and received her degree in elementary education upon graduation from Millersville State College. She taught school in Lebanon and Lancaster counties and retired from the MidWest School District in Snyder County. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Northumberland, and was the former church organist there. She was also the organist at Albright United Methodist Church, Sunbury, for 10 years. She was a member of Tops in Shamokin Dam. She was a member of the Pa. Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed music and gardening. She is survived by one son, David A. Riegert and wife, Patricia, of Northumberland. Also surviving are one grandson, Seth Riegert, of Northumberland. Also surviving are three nieces, Carol Gutwalt of Frederick, Md., Mary Anne Gutwalt of Lebanon, Nancy Sue Gutwalt of Lebanon. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Christ United Methodist Church, Northumberland, with the Rev. James Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Annville Cemetery, Annville. Friends will be received on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 309 Water St., Northumberland. Friends may make donations to the Christ United Methodist Church, Front and King streets, Northumberland, PA 17857.
