Scott STOKES Obituary
November 10, 1989 – January 28, 2013
Scott Stokes, beloved son of Darrell and Ingrid, passed away on January 28, 2013 at the age of 23 years. Scott was born in Calgary and moved to Chestermere where he graduated in 2007. Scott will be dearly missed by his little sister who he shared a special bond with. Their relationship had an intuitive connectedness that was noticed by all. He always put his own needs aside, especially when he saw an opportunity to inspire and help others. His calm demeanor and witty sense of humour will not be forgotten by everyone whose lives he has touched. Scott is survived by his parents Darrell and Ingrid; sister Sarah; grandparents, Herbert and Renate Huebner, Gordon and Audrey Stokes; uncles, Herb Huebner and Craig Stokes; aunts, Monica Huebner, Elke and her husband Dave Claughton, Kim Stokes, and Janice Stokes; cousins, Jordan and Josie Claughton, Chad Baily and Chantal Barnes; and numerous extended family and friends. Scott was predeceased by his brothers, Cory and Stephen Stokes; grandmother Margret Pitcher; and uncle Werner Huebner. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Scott Stokes, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

It's been a couple weeks now, but I find myself thinking of your family each day. I was so sorry to hear of Scott's passing, it surely doesn't make any sense, nor should it.
I wish you strength and courage to move forward with your lives... it will take time, but I know you have a strong community and stronger family that will help you through.
I was in school with scott for over 7 years, and he was such a light and unique personality that I, and so many others take with us in our own lives. Such a great guy, rest in the best of peace Scott.

Darrel, I found out about Scott yesterday from Julie and it absolutely broke my heart. I'm so sad for you and your family - I know how much you loved your beautiful boy.
He has touched so many lives as I read through these messages. I know you're feeling a pain beyond all words and my prayers and thoughts are with all of you.

I truly do not know what to say, other than I am beyond sorry to hear of your loss. Please know that I and many, many others who grew up around your wonderful family in Marlborough are grieving for you and would do anything for you. I am sending you lots and lots of hugs. It is hard to believe Scott is not with us. However, his spirit lives on and with everyone he new. Knowing Scott since he was a young child and being part of his life and also the rest of the family, I am thankful. Truly he will be missed but not forgotten. My heart goes out to you. Our family misses Scott very much.
His kindness and loyalty were inspiring. Scott never had a bad word about anyone and that is very rare in our world.
Our sadness is in not being able to tell him how meaningful he was to us. We will always remember Scott.

Your family holds a special place in my heart. Over the years I have thought of you all, and Scott, often. His curiosity, kindness, appreciation, gentle spirit and creativity were such gifts for me to experience in my first year of teaching. I was so sad to hear of his passing from another classmate. I was so so sorry to hear about Scott. I have such wonderful memories from his time in my classes in middle school. One Halloween he made the BEST Harry Potter. He was a great band student and part of a great group of kids, who stand out for me as a teacher. I also remember how you,as his parents, were always there for him and our program. He was also such a good, very good big brother to Sarah, who I also remember teaching - such a lovely girl, so hugs to her too. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Words do not express the pain and sorrow we share with you. We loved your son like one of our own. We will miss his quiet mannerisms, his keen wit, and his unique way of looking at the world.
