Linda Rumbaugh Obituary

Linda Mae (Hosey) Rumbaugh, 78, of Kittanning, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital – Alle Kiski.

Born June 19, 1947, in Harrison Township, Allegheny County, she was the daughter of the late Howard M. and Blanche E. Hosey.

A dedicated educator, Linda graduated from Elizabethtown College in 1969 and spent her life teaching and sharing her love of learning with others. She was especially passionate about adult literacy, always believing in the power of education to transform lives. Her love of teaching extended beyond the classroom to the community and her church.

Linda was a faithful member of Harvest Baptist Church, where she was actively involved for many years.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling and following her favorite barbershop quartet across the country.

Her constant and beloved companion, her service dog Jack, held a special place in her heart and brought her much joy.

Survivors include her loving husband, David R. Rumbaugh of Kittanning; her sister, Carole Christy of Cabot; nephews, Gregory Christy of Freeport and Jeffrey Christy of Saxonburg; nephew, Joseph Fox of Freeport, great-nieces, Nicholette Christy and Kennedy Christy of Saxonburg; great-nephew, Matthew Christy of Saxonburg; brother-in-law, Melvin C. Rumbaugh and wife, Marlene, of New Florence; sister-in-law, Rebecca Schimp of Manchester, N.H.; nieces, Renee (Richard) Tudor of Seward, Andrea (Keith) Harriman of Newtown and Stacey (Steven) Brown of Manchester, N.H.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her niece, Marcia Fox; brothers-in-law, Elmer Christy and Charles Wallace; and her cherished service dog, Jack.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, and again on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, located at 253 North Grant Avenue in Kittanning.

Funeral services will follow the time of visitation at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Allen Waldrep officiating.

Interment will follow at Rimersburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Harvest Baptist Church or Harvest Baptist Academy, causes that were dear to Linda's heart.
