Alma Zich Obituary

Alma Elsie Zich

February 3, 1926 - July 24, 2025

Alma Elsie Zich, 99, of Fall Creek passed away on Thursday, July 24th, 2025 at Oak Garden Place in Altoona, WI, surrounded by her loving family.

Alma was born on February 3rd, 1926, to Glenn and Olive (Woodford) Goss at their rural home near Osseo, WI. One of ten children, she was raised in a close-knit home where she learned the values of hard work, faith and family. She was baptized at First Baptist Church in August of 1936 and later confirmed at St. James Parsonage in 1949 – her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life. She attended Requa School through 7th grade and completed 8th grade at the Osseo School. In her early years, she worked at the grocery store in Brackett, WI, where she would meet the love of her life, Norman Zich.

Alma spent 46 years on the family farm after marrying her beloved husband & soulmate in 1949, where together they raised four children who were the light of her life. A dedicated homemaker, she spent her life caring for those around her with quiet strength and endless love. She had a deep love for working with her hands – tending a large garden each summer and then canning and freezing its bounty to nourish her family throughout the year. She also poured her heart into quilting, creating treasured pieces for her family and church. Whether she was embroidering, crocheting, or patching her boys' jeans, every stitch was an act of love and care. She also had a special talent for growing houseplants and beautiful flowers.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Olive Goss; her husband of 59 years, Norman Zich, her beloved son, Donald Zich; her siblings, Priscilla (Leonard) Hanson, Geraldine (Victor) Grohn, Ione (Laverne) Schultz, Raymond (Avis) Goss, Ronald (Monica) Goss, and Clarence (Elaine) Goss; her mother & father in law, Adolph and Martha Zich; her brothers and sisters in law; Diane Goss, Elgart (Delores) Sommerfeldt, Ervin (Ellen) Zich and Orville Green; her infant grandson, Dustin Zich; her infant great grandson, Brock Zimmerman; and her godchild, Bonnie Welke.

She is survived by three children: Dennis (Linda) Zich, Carolyn (Allen) Zimmerman and Darold (Laurie) Zich; daughter-in-law: Debi Zich; six grandchildren: Jason (Ann) Zimmerman, Michael (Keri) Zimmerman, Sara (Luke) Kjelland, Kyle (Chelsie) Zich, Carl (Kristina) Zimmerman and Kayla (Eric) Clare; thirteen great-grandchildren: Hannah (Austin), Megan, Abby, Zachary, Samantha, Hunter, Aliyiah, Silje, Raquel, Paxton, Braylee, Dustin and Laramie; and one more great-grandchild on the way; her brother, Darrel Goss; her sisters, Norma (Harley) Voetmann and Marie Phillips; and her sister-in-law, Arlene Green.

The family would like to personally thank Oak Gardens Place in Altoona and Heartland Hospice for the heartfelt care they gave Alma.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Thursday, July 31st 2025 at St. James Trinity Lutheran Church; 305 S State Street, Fall Creek, WI 54742. Visitation services will be held two hours prior at the church starting at 10 AM.
