Christine Menting Obituary

Christine I. Menting, age 87, of Mondovi, formerly of Nelson, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025 at the American Lutheran Home of Mondovi with her beloved family at her bedside.

She was born on March 8, 1938 the daughter of the late Wallace A. and Karen (Lindstrom) Stewart.

Christine graduated from Durand High School. Although she graduated from Durand H.S., She was always proud to have been a Nelson High School student through her junior year.

On June 13, 1959, Christine was united in marriage to Darrell J. Menting at Lyster Lutheran Church. To this loving union, four children were born. Darrell preceded Christine in death on May 16, 2024.

Christine was a longtime and faithful member of Lyster Lutheran Church.

She will be remembered for her love of baking, gardening, and canning. Her family will always remember her for her pickles. She was also known for her peanut butter and perfectly toasted bread with a small cup of coffee to accompany it.

There are so many attributes and memories that Christine leaves with us, but some of the most notable would be her soft soul, warm and giving heart and a beautiful singing voice, always there to listen to you without judgement and never letting you leave her home hungry. Her passion and love for her family and sharing special moments together, such as the many years of camping and sitting around the campfire sharing stories along with times spent together during the holidays…especially Christmas, were so important to her. She will be forever remembered as the true definition of a mom and grandma. Her legacy will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Christine will be sadly missed by her children, Curtis (Laura) Menting, Karen (David) Lauer, Keith (Nancy) Menting and Cheryl (Randy) Patraw; grandchildren, Adrianna Danielson, Kristen (Aaron) Molina, Alisha Menting, Isaac (Brittany) Menting, Ariel Menting, Abby Menting, Christie Jo Lauer, Andrea Konwinski, Mike Lauer, Alissa (Nathan) Evers, Lucas Menting, Kelsey (Tyler) Bauer, Kari (Josh) Hanson and Cody (Jen) Patraw; 19 great grandchildren; sisters in law, Veronica Menting, Joanne Orne and Mary Lou Menting; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Arlene (Phil) Risler and Anna (Jim) Sobottka along with 1 brother, Alton Stewart.

A funeral service for Christine will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Lyster Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 4:00 PM until the hour of the service. A sunset burial will be held after fellowship on Friday at 7:30 PM.

Christine's family would like to take this opportunity to extend a heartfelt and gracious thank you to the entire staff of the American Lutheran Home of Mondovi for the exceptional and loving care given to her.
