Jan Link Obituary

Jan Link

April 26, 1950 - July 17, 2025

Jan K. Link, 75, passed away on July 17, 2025, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, after a short battle with cancer. A quiet and kind man, Jan was deeply devoted to his family and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Born on April 26, 1950, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Jan grew up at Elk Lake and worked at Peter's Meats before graduating from Elk Mound High School. Jan worked at Uniroyal for over two decades until the plant's closure. He then went on to earn an associates degree in electrical mechanical from Chippewa Valley Technical College and later completed his master electrician certification, working as a commercial electrician at Ashley Furniture. His technical skill and reliability earned him respect among colleagues throughout his career. After decades of hard work, Jan recently retired due to his illness.

Jan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved tinkering with his beloved 1970 Chevelle and had a passion for vintage cars that never faded. He also enjoyed country music and sports (Especially the Packers!); he played basketball during his high school years and remained an avid fan throughout his life. One of his favorite pastimes was driving around with his wife Mary while she took photographs-quiet moments that spoke volumes about their bond.

Family was at the heart of everything Jan did. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Link; sons Mike (Renee') Dutter, Brian (Kathy) Dutter; grandchildren Nicole (Luke) Morris, Garrett Dutter, Jeffrey Dutter, Cole Dutter and Danielle Pertile, Cameron (Mara) Dutter, Adrien (Jewel) Dutter, Jacob (Brittany) Westerhof, Mitchell (Sydney) Westerhof, and William Westerhof and Jaydalin Ruff; great-grandchildren Lilly Dutter, Freya Dutter, Rowan Dutter, Elijah Dutter, Aspen Dutter and Eden Westerhof; sister Linda Flynn; nieces Barbara Johnson and Lisa Townsend McKeown (Tom McKeown); nephews Dan Townsend, Marc Townsend, and Eric Townsend and Dana; as well as cousins, great-nieces Kaia and Brittany, and great-nephews Kole, Derek and Ashton.

Jan was preceded in death by his parents Alida Peterson Link and Kenneth Link, along with his brother-in-law Bob Flynn.

Those who knew Jan will remember him for his gentle spirit, steady presence, and unwavering love for those closest to him. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Visitation and Service will be held on July 30, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Church at 3715 London Road, Eau Claire. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the Service will be held at noon. Lunch will follow at the church fellowship hall.

Our family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Luther Mayo and Dove Healthcare for their excellent care of Jan. Also, a special thanks to our close friend and nurse, Cathy DeGroot, for being with Jan during his last hours.
