Randy Sluga Obituary

Randall "Randy" J. Sluga, 58, of Eau Claire and formerly of Independence, died at his home on Sunday, February 18.

Randy was born on November 9, 1965, to Robert and Karen Sluga and raised in Independence. In school, Randy excelled at wrestling, making two high school state appearances and earning the Badger State Award as a senior. Randy continued to follow youth wrestling after high school, volunteering his time as a coach, mentor and supporter with programs in Independence and Arcadia.

After high school, Randy worked for A-G Co-Op Cheese Plant before landing a job operating heavy equipment for road construction, then moved into the lumber and rafter business.

He was always active, seeking out adventure, and socializing with anyone and everyone. His "kid at heart" personality, along with his amazing ability to make everyone laugh through his quick-wit and comedy, allowed to Randy to make friends wherever he went. Though he made friends throughout the world, Randy's childhood friends, that grew up to be his loyal "Rat Pack" of life-long friends, always held a special place in his heart. Randy enjoyed fishing, big game hunting trips, attending live music concert events, following the Packers and Badgers, and antiquing. From a young age, Randy found a talent in woodworking; always working on a special project or making woodcraft gifts for his family and friends.

Randy's love for adventure made him the "fun uncle", and he loved spending time with his family sailing and traveling. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Jacob's Well Church in Eau Claire. His departure has left a void in the hearts of his loved ones, but the memories and stories of his legacy will be shared and cherished forever.

Randy is survived by his fiancée, Colette Bomback of Altoona; mother, Karen Sluga of Independence; sons, Ethan and Evan Wozney of Eau Claire; sister, Elaine (Jim) Kilburg of River Forest, IL; nephews, Robert and Adler "AJ" Kilburg Nathan and Vance Lekvin; brother-in-law, Brent Lekvin; life-long friend, Jerome (Tracy) Halama; and Colette's daughter,Kelcey (Dominik) Ritter and grandson, Elikai.

He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Robert; and sister, Kathleen Lekvin.

A memorial service for Randy will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2 at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, with Pastor Brian Faught officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A celebration of Randy's life will immediately follow the service at the East End Bar and Grill.
