Robert Claire Blockhus, born on September 16, 1932, in Owatonna, MN, passed away on Saturday, October 5 at his apartment in The Classic in Altoona. He was 92 years old.
He was the son of Swen C. Blockhus and Helen Nass.
Robert served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956, He attended the University of Minnesota and Mankato State, and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. He worked for Traveler's Insurance, changing responsibilities and transferring roles. He was always known for his hard work and dedication.
On April 10, 1965, Robert married (Sarah) Jane Bridgeman, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage. He was a devoted husband, a loving family man, and a friend to many. Robert enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with his loved ones and his time at the cabin. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion
He is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, Greg & Karen (Nyswonger) Blockhus and Brad & Lorrie (Richmond) Blockhus; grandchildren, Katherine Gable (Thurston), Natalie Blockhus and Daniel Blockhus; and great-grandchildren, Sophie and Owen Gable.
Memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., with Pastor Patrick Patterson officiating. Visitation will take place at the church Tuesday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Private family inurnment with military honors will take place at the Northern Wisconsin State Veterans' Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
