Roger Kruger Obituary

Roger "Rog" A. Kruger

May 8, 1939 - August 5, 2025

Roger A. Kruger passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 5, 2025 while at Dove Healthcare – West. He was briefly under the care of Hospice after being in the hospital due to an infection.

He was born May 8, 1939 to Andrew and Mary (Marcon) Kruger in Eau Claire. Growing up, Roger enjoyed hunting and fishing with his parents up north and in Canada as well as helping with the family truck gardening business. His love of hunting, fishing, and gardening continued his whole life.

Roger graduated from Regis High School Class of 1959. After high school he worked in Racine for a short time and then returned to Eau Claire where he did construction work for a few years. He later worked for Equity Livestock and Golden Plump, retiring in 2001.

Roger and Marlys were married on February 4, 1961 and were married for 50 years. They loved their 80 acres of paradise and it was there that they raised their 3 children, did a little farming, and grew their large gardens. He and Marlys sold vegetables at the Eau Claire Farmers Market for over 20 years. He stopped doing the farmers market when Marlys passed away in 2011 but he continued to plant a garden until last year.

Roger loved the simple things in life. He was the happiest when he could ride around on his gator and check out the deer and turkey population on his back forty. He also enjoyed going fishing and catching a few to bring home and fry. In the fall he lived for deer hunting and turkey hunting in the spring. He also enjoyed spending time outside cutting wood to heat his home as well as many others throughout the years. We can't forget to mention how much he enjoyed his frequent trips to Festival Foods, Fleet Farm, and Menards where he would stroll the isles until the perfect item or a sweet treat would catch his eye.

Roger is survived by his children, Mary Jo Norby (John), Steven Kruger, and Jina Brantner (Steven). His grandchildren, Kasandra Janezic (Derek Koesterman), Katie Boldon (Layne), Megan Bechel (Kyle), Leeza Kostka (Cody), and Lucas Norby (Paige). He was Great Grandpa Roger to Emma and Edison Boldon, Brooks and Cavin Bechel, and Meredith Kostka.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Mary, step-father, Wallace Lange, his wife Marlys, father and mother in laws Charles and Agnes Henning, daughter in law, Shari Kruger, and sister-in-law Doris Mai.

Funeral service for Roger will take place at 11 am on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Hulke Family Funeral Home. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on that day from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow the service in Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington.
