David Pryde Obituary

David N. Pryde West Kittanning David Nelson Pryde, 83, of West Kittanning, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 6, 1929, in Kittanning, to Albert and Hazel (Montgomery) Pryde. David graduated from Kittanning High School in 1947 and Grove City College in 1951. After college, he served for a brief time in both the Air Force and the Army. He was employed as an agent in Kittanning by Prudential Insurance Co. from 1953 until 1959 and then worked for six years as a senior underwriter for Nationwide Insurance in Butler, prior to becoming the owner of Greenbaum's Furniture in Ford City. David enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Kittanning County Club, but nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they will always remember his devotion to them. David's memory is carried on with love by his sons, Robert M. Greenbaum Jr. and wife, Ann, of Golden, Colo., and Richard R. Greenbaum and his wife, Hilary Spence, of Easton, Md.; daughter, Jane Osman and her husband, Philip, of Far Hills, N.J.; grandchildren, Kevin Greenbaum, Nathan Greenbaum, Alexandra Greenbaum-Hughes, Blair Greenbaum and Otis H. Osman; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Forrest and Paisley Greenbaum; and sister, Jean Wyant, of West Kittanning. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 45 years, Barbara J. (Nicholas) Greenbaum Pryde, whom he married March 1, 1962, and who passed away Dec. 21, 2007; and brother, Robert Pryde. A private memorial will be held by the family. Arrangements are being handled by the BAUER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC. Contributions may be made in David's memory to the Kittanning Garden Club, 138 Allegheny Ave., Kittanning, PA 16201, or the Kittanning Public Library, 280 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning, PA 16201.
