Delores Ann "Dorie" (Johns) Hooks, 87, of Adrian, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 15, 2022, in ACMH Hospital, with her family by her side. She received the greatest birthday gift off all, to be reunited with her husband and son.
She was born on April 15, 1935, in Adrian, Pa., daughter of the late Wilfred Johns, Sr. and Mary C. (Wolfe) Johns. She was the wife of George W. Hooks, Sr.
Dorie's greatest blessings were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending every sporting event, always waiting at the end with her own $1 bill to give.
She faithfully watched her Bible study every morning and then followed that with her many books of word scrambles.
Left behind to cherish her memory includes: her son, George, Jr. (Cheryl) Hooks; daughter, Kimberly (Tim) Hooks Williams; grandchildren: William (Tiffany) Hooks, Heather Hooks (Tim) Barba, Kelly Hooks (Ben) Olinger, Elyse Williams (Josh) Kaufman, Ethan (Alison) Williams and Cullen Williams; great-grandchildren: Garrett, Owen, Caitlynn and Luke; step great-grandchildren, Courtney and Taylor; step great-great-grandchildren, Cadance and Olivia; nieces; and her sisters, Marie (Frank) Ringley and Lois (Dave) Hall.
In addition to her parents, Dorie was preceded in death by her husband, George, Sr. who passed away on Feb. 16, 2022, and had celebrated 69 years of marriage with; her son, Gregory Keith Hooks (age 10); brothers: Wilfred "June" Jr.; and two infant brothers.
Family and friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022, at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 832 East Brady Road, Cowansville, Pa.
Additional visitation will be held at Furnace Run Chapel on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jimmy Edwards officiating.
Burial will follow at Croyle Cemetery in Adrian, Pa.
Memorial donations may be made to support Dorie's special place to be on Sundays: Furnace Run Chapel, 154 Montgomery Road, Kittanning, PA 16201.
