Tony Ferraro, 91, of Kittanning, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 4, 1922, in Byer, a son of Angelo and Maria Ferraro. Tony was a longtime resident of Kittanning, moving to the town in 1949. He was a true entrepreneur and had many special talents. Tony worked all of his life at farming and in his younger years drove a milk truck and was an excavator. He then started his own refuse truck route that he ran for many years and had the first transfer service in the area, which hauled refuse to Ohio in a tractor trailer. Tony later sold his refuse business to a larger company and went on to his next project: building homes. He created Shady Lane, Roundtop Drive, Country Park Lane and Ferraro Road in Kittanning. Tony was not finished working yet though - he then built storage units at Linde and also had a laundromat, car shop and entertainment center, which he later sold and built more storage units on his farm. Tony was an active member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ and throughout the years enjoyed opening up his family's farm to host church picnics. He will be best remembered for being a hard worker and loving husband, father and grandfather. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 40 years, Delores (Brown) Ferraro, whom he married July 12, 1973; sons, Jim Ferraro and wife, Kim, of Kittanning, John Ferraro and wife, Carol, of Kittanning, Keith Bowser and wife, Karen, of Kittanning, and Richard Ferraro and wife, Alison, of Molla; daughters, Rose Allen and husband, Jim, of Golden, Mo., Karen A.
