Marcella Heather Obituary

Marcella M. Heather, 84, of Vandalia, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at her home.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Revs. Paul Porter and Bruce Sasse officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery in rural Vandalia. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: Taylor Cemetery, Columbus Baptist Church of Mulberry Grove, St. Peter United Church of Christ of Hookdale/Smithboro or donor's choice. Online condolences may be shared at www.millerfh.net.
Mrs. Heather was born on Oct. 21, 1929, in Patoka, the daughter of Lenord William and Mary Logue Goodin. She married Harold Marvin ""Bood"" Heather on Feb. 25, 1950, in Vandalia; he passed away on Nov. 9, 2003.
Mr. and Mrs. Heather made their home in the Pittsburg area. She was a dedicated farmer's wife and mother, and an avid quilter.
She is survived by a son, Lenord Marvin Heather and his wife Ruth Ann of Smithboro; a daughter, Connie and her husband Don Hand of Newport News, Va.; brothers, Merle Goodin and his wife Doris of Eureka, Estel Goodin and his wife Lena of Bagwell, Texas, and David Goodin and his wife Dona of Shobonier; sisters, Geneva Hicks of Patoka, Maxine Sturgeon of Patoka, and Nancy and her husband Gary Dickman of Overland, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Darlene Goodin, Maxine Goodin, Betty Fifer, Loretta Willis, and Harry and Evadine Sanders; grandchildren, Jody and her husband Lee Gutierrez of Fayetteville, N.C., Shane Dugan and his fiancée Kala Carroll of Vandalia, Justin Hand and friend Deanne Woodruff of Nashville, Tenn., Dustin Heather of Joliet, Jami Hand of Newport News, Va., and Jaime Williams and friend Adam Compton of Hillsboro; great-grandchildren, Dalton Dugan, Isabella, Jackson, Jordan and Tiffany Gutierrez, August Hand, Brynee Tally, Alori Williams and Robbie Williams, Tiffany Wollin and fiancé Trevor Voelker and Jacob Hopkins; great-great-grandchild, Cody Wollin; and numerous nieces and nephews.a
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Johnny and Jimmy Goodin; and sister, Irene Hoppe.
Her children would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Ruthann Heather, Vicky Goodwin, Jaime Williams, Sunrise caregivers and staff, Heather Durbin, Ardith Carmen, Bond County Hospice, nurses, Megan, Bonnie and volunteer, Reba Stone, Dr. Richard Funneman. Ministers, Pastor Paul Porter, St. Peter United Church of Christ, and Pastor Bruce Sasse, Columbus Baptist Church.
