KENNETH GUENTHER Obituary

KENNETH ANTHONY GUENTHER Kenneth "Kenny" Anthony Guenther, 76, of Leavenworth, embarked on his journey to Heaven on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at home surrounded by his beloved family. He was born June 13, 1948, in Leavenworth, Kan., the son of Edward Louis and Edna Jane (Vanderstaay) Guenther. Growing up, Kenny helped on the family farm milking cows, raising hogs, and farming row crops and hay. Upon graduation from Immaculata High School in 1966, Kenny worked for the State Prison in Lansing and then in 1985 followed in his father's footsteps as a road grader operator for Leavenworth County Public Works, eventually becoming Maintenance Supervisor, South District before retiring in 2014. In retirement, Kenny lived with his son, Austin, and daughter-in-law, Melissa, and their three children who were the highlight of his life. Melissa truly became another daughter to him and they became very close. Kenny filled his days with chores, various tractor projects, and time spent with his friends. He loved taking his grandchildren on rides on the golf cart around the yard and teaching them to drive. Some of his favorite activities were having coffee and breakfast or making part runs with his closest friends. He was a hard worker and always provided for his family. They never wanted for anything as long as he was around and he was always there to catch them when they needed a hand. Kenny will be sorely missed by his children and grandchildren who loved him deeply for his dependability, practicality, and dry sense of humor that could always make them laugh. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Karen Gray. He is survived by his sister, Phyllis (Skip) Reid; his daughter, Aubrey (Russell) Evans; his son, Austin (Melissa) Guenther; and grandchildren, Bowen, Kylee, Dresden, Elizabeth, and James; along with many dear friends and a community that became like his family. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025, at R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to HOPE Pet Rescue.
