James Grundy Obituary

James "Jimmy" Caldwell Grundy Jr., 97, passed away at The Village of Lebanon on Saturday, May 2, 2020.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, James Caldwell Grundy Sr. and Mabel Mozelle Payne; and one sister, Harriett Morgan.
Jimmy was born March 22, 1923 in Lebanon. He was educated in the public schools and attended the University of Kentucky. He was a lifelong resident of Lebanon where he farmed for most of his life. He was a highly active leader in the community and had many accomplishments over his lifetime. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Lebanon where he served as deacon and elder of the church from 1950-1980. He was treasurer of the Marion County Farm Bureau for 39 years. He was a named Outstanding Businessman in Marion County in 1974. He was a former member of the Jaycees and president of the Rotary Club in 1974. Among the community services, Jimmy was a state representative in Legislation for Marion and Taylor Counties in the1950s. He served as district aid to the Commissioner Kentucky Highway office in the 1960s. He served as election commissioner and county chairman of the Republican Party over the decades and managed several successful political campaigns in Marion County.
Jimmy had an enduring love for his wife and family and a passion for helping others.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years Mary Lois McDonald Grundy of Lebanon; two sons, James "Jim" Caldwell Grundy III (Jean Ann) and Robert McDonald Grundy, both of Lebanon; two grandchildren, James "Jay" Caldwell Grundy IV (Michaela) and Alice Green Grundy Geer, both of Lebanon; three great-grandchildren, James "Wells" Caldwell Grundy V, Miles January Grundy, and Brooks Thomas Geer; and one brother, Andrew January Grundy of Lebanon.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed to United Presbyterian Church of Lebanon.
A private funeral service was held for immediate family followed by a private burial. Rev. Garry Pennington and Rev. Peggy Birmingham officiated.
Pallbearers were Jackie Morgan, John Grundy, John Bell, Roberto 'Shorty' Ibarra, Harold McDonald, and Danny Smith.
Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of arrangements.
